케임브릿지 사전은 'on the nail'을 "at exactly the right time(딱 맞는 때에)"이라고 정의했다.

"Some credit cards are offering loyalty bonuses to customers who pay on the nail(어떤 신용 카드 업체들은 결제액을 제때 지불하는 고객들에게 로열티 보너스를 제공한다)."

콜린스 사전은 'on the nail'을 "(of payments) at once (esp in the phrase pay on the nail)((지불이) 즉시 이루어지는)(특히 pay on the nail이라는 표현으로 쓰임))"라고 설명했다.

맥밀란 사전은 'on the nail'을 이렇게 풀이했다. "if you pay on the nail, you pay immediately(on the nail하게 지불한다면, 즉시 지불하는 것이다)"
