케임브릿지 사전은 '(as) good as new'를 "in very good condition again, after not working well(잘 작동하지 않았다가 다시 아주 좋은 상태에 있는)"이라고 정의했다. 

"Yaman fixed my computer, and now it’s good as new(야만이 내 컴퓨터를 고쳐서, 이제 새것이나 마찬가지다)."

콜린스 사전은 'as good as new'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you say that something or someone is as good as new, you mean that they are in a very good condition or state, especially after they have been damaged or ill(어떤 사물 또는 사람이 as good as new 하다면, 특히 피해를 입거나 아팠던 이후, 아주 좋은 상태에 있는 것이다)."

"I only ever use that on special occasions so it's as good as new(나는 그걸 오직 특별한 날에만 써서, 새것이나 다름없다)."

"In a day or so he will be as good as new(하루 정도 있으면 그는 다시 괜찮아질 것이다)." 

맥밀란 사전은 'as good as new'를 "in almost the same good condition as before being damaged or injured(피해를 입거나 부상을 입은 후 이전과 거의 똑같이 좋은 상태에 있는)"라고 풀이했다. 

"After the operation your back should be as good as new(수술 이후 등이 다시 태어난 듯 좋아질 것입니다)."
