케임브릿지 사전은 'piece together something'을 이렇게 정의했다. "If you piece together facts or information, you collect them in order to understand a situation(사실이나 정보를 piece together 한다면, 어떤 상황을 이해하기 위해 그것들을 모으는 것이다)"

"Investigators are trying to piece together what happened just before the accident(수사관들은 사고 직전에 무슨 일이 있었는지 정보를 종합하려 하고 있다)."
