케임브릿지 사전은 'boorsih'를 "rude and not considering other people's feelings(무례하고 다른 이의 감정을 고려하지 않는)"라고 정의했다.

"I found him rather boorish and aggressive(내가 보기엔 그는 상스럽고 공격적이다)."

"The boorish behaviour of some tourists is embarrassing(일부 관광객들의 천박한 행동은 부끄러운 일이다)."

콜린스 사전은 'boorish'를 이렇게 설명했다. "uneducated(boorish한 행동은 거칠고, 교육을 못 받았으며, 무례한 것이다)." 못마땅해하는(disapproval) 뉘앙스이다.

"...their boorish rejection of the ageing movie star(...나이 들어 가는 영화배우들에 대한 그들의 천박한 거절)." 

맥밀란 사전은 'boorish'를 "rude and not caring about other people’s feelings(무례하고 다른 이들의 감정을 고려하지 않는)"라고 풀이했다.
