케임브릿지 사전은 'doggedly'를 "in a very determined way, even if something is very difficult(어떤 것이 아주 어렵더라도, 아주 단호하게)"라고 정의했다.

"I kept at it, doggedly and patiently, until finally I could skate(나는 스케이트를 탈 수 있을 때까지 완강하게, 그리고 끈기 있게 포기하지 않고 계속 시도했다.)."

"John is one of the most doggedly persistent of men(존은 가장 완강하고 끈질긴 남자들 중 하나이다)."

콜린스 사전은 'doggedly'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you describe someone's actions as dogged, you mean that they are determined to continue with something even if it becomes difficult or dangerous(어떤 사람의 행동을 dogged라고 묘사한다면, 어떤 것이 어렵거나 위험하더라도 그것을 게속하겠다고 마음 먹었다는 뜻이다)."

"She would fight doggedly for her rights as the children's mother(그녀는 아이들의 어머니로서 그녀의 권리를 위해 완강하게 싸울 것이다)." 

맥밀란 사전은 'doggedly'를 "determined to achieve something and continuing to try despite difficulties(어려움에도 불구하고 어떤 것을 성취하기로, 그리고 계속하기로 마음 먹은)"라고 풀이했다.
