케임브릿지 사전은 'bend sb's ear'를 "to talk to someone for a long time, especially about a problem, or to ask for something(특히 어떤 문제에 대해 오랫동안 어떤 사람에게 이야기하거나, 무엇을 요구하다)"이라고 정의했다.

콜린스 사전은 'bend someone's ear'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you say that someone is bending your ear about something, you mean that they keep talking to you about it because they think it is important; used especially when you are irritated by this(어떤 사람이 어떤 것에 대해 bend your ear 한다면, 그것이 중요하다고 생각하기 때문에 들이 당신에게 그것에 대해 이야기한다는 뜻이다; 특히 당신이 그것으로 짜증이 날 때 쓰이는 말이다)." 인포멀(informal)한 표현이다.

"He was fed up with people bending his ear about staying on at school(그는 사람들이 학교에 계속 머무는 것에 대해 이야기를 잔뜩 늘어놓는 것에 질려 있었다)." 

맥밀란 사전은 'bend someone's ear'를 "to talk to someone for a long time, especially in order to complain about something or to discuss a problem(어떤 사람에 대해 오래 이야기하다, 특히 어떤 것에 대해 불평하기 위해, 또는 어떤 문제에 대해 토론하기 위해 그렇게 하다)"이라고 풀이했다.
