케임브릿지 사전은 'teast sth out'을 "to try to get information or understand a meaning that is hidden or not clear(정보를 얻으려고, 또는 숨겨져 있거나 명확하지 않은 의미를 이해하려고 애쓰다)"라고 정의했다.

"It took me a while to tease the truth out of him(그에게 진실을 캐내는 데 시간이 좀 걸렸다)."

콜린스 사전은 'teast out'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If you tease out information or a solution, you succeed in obtaining it even though this is difficult(정보 또는 해결책을 tease out 한다면, 그 과정이 어렵더라도 그것을 획득하는 데 성공하는 것이다)."
