케임브릿지 사전은 'on the edge of your seat'를 "very excited, and giving all your attention to something, because you want to know what is going to happen(어떤 일이 일어날지 알고 싶어 하기 때문에 아주 신이 나고 어떤 것에 당신의 주의를 모두 기울이는)"이라고 정의했다.

"He could no longer keep his eyes open to watch any of the videos which, until quite recently, would have kept him on the edge of his seat(그는 더 이상 눈을 뜨고 그가 아주 최근까지 흥미진진하게 보던 비디오들을 볼 수가 없었다)."
