케임브릿지 사전은 'high-end'를 "intended for people who want very good quality products and who do not mind how much they cost(아주 좋은 질의 상품을 원하며 가격은 얼마이든 신경 쓰지 않는 이들을 위해 의도된)"라고 정의했다.

"high-end video equipment/a high-end department store(고급 비디오 장비/고급 백화점)"

콜린스 사전은 'high-end'를 이렇게 설명했다. "High-end products, especially electronic products, are the most expensive of their kind(high-end 제품, 특히 전자 제품은 동류에서 제일 비싼 것들이다)."

"...high-end personal computers and computer workstations(...고급 개인 컴퓨터와 컴퓨터 단말기)."

맥밀란 사전은 'high-end'를 이렇게 풀이했다. "high-end goods and services are more expensive and more advanced than other similar goods and services(high-end 제품과 서비스는 비슷한 제품과 서비스보다 더 비싸고 더욱 고급스러운 것이다)"
