[영어 공부] stubble((최근에 면도를 하지 않아서) 까칠하게 자란 수염)

 

케임브릿지 사전은 'stubble'을 "the short hair that grows on a man's face if he has not shaved (= cut the hair) for a few days(며칠간 면도하지 않으면 자라는, 남성의 얼굴에 난 짧은 털)"라고 정의했다.

"With the back of his hand, he rubbed the stubble on his chin(손등으로 그는 턱의 까칠한 수염을 문질렀다.)."

콜린스 사전은 'stubble'을 이렇게 설명했다. "The very short hairs on someone's skin when they have not shaved recently, especially the hairs on a man's face, are referred to as stubble(최근에 면도하지 않았을 때 (사람의) 피부에 난, 아주 짧은 털, 특히 남자의 얼굴에 난 털을 stubble이라고 한다)."

"His face was covered with the stubble of several nights(그의 얼굴은 며칠 밤 사이에 자란 까칠한 수염으로 덮여 있었다)." 

맥밀란 사전은 'stubble'을 "the short stiff hairs on a man’s face that grow into a beard if he does not cut them off(자르지 않으면 수염으로 자라는, 남자의 얼굴에 난 짧고 뻣뻣한 털)"라고 풀이했다.
