케임브릿지 사전은 'bridge'를 "to make the difference or division between two things smaller or less severe(두 사물 사이의 차이나 경계선을 적게 또는 덜 심하게 만들다)"라고 정의했다.

"We must bridge the gap between employees and management(우리는 직원과 관리자 사이의 격차를 줄여야 합니다)."

콜린스 사전은 'bridge'를 이렇게 설명했다. "To bridge the gap between two people or things means to reduce it or get rid of it(두 사람 또는 사물 사이의 격차를 bridge 하는 것은 그것을 줄이거나 없애는 것이다)."

"It is unlikely that the two sides will be able to bridge their differences(양측이 의견 차이를 좁힐 수 있을 것 같지 않다)."

맥밀란 사전은 'bridge'를 "to make something possible by getting rid of disagreements, differences, or difficulties(의견 충돌, 차이, 또는 어려움을 없앰으로써 어떤 것을 가능하게 만들다)"라고 풀이했다.

"Both parties seem implacably opposed to bridging their differences(양 당은 차이를 좁히는 데 완강하게 반대하는 것 같다)."
