케임브릿지 사전은 'clip'을 "to hit something or someone with a short sharp movement(어떤 사물 또는 사람을 짧고 날카로운 움직임으로 치다)"라고 정의했다.

"He clipped the edge of the kerb with his front tyre(그는 앞 타이어로 연석 가장자리를 스쳤다)."

콜린스 사전은 'clip'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If something clips something else, it hits it accidentally at an angle before moving off in a different direction(어떤 것이 다른 것을 clip 한다면, 그것이 다른 방향으로 움직이기 전에 우연히, 비스듬하게 치는 것이다)."
