케임브릿지 사전은 'transfixed'를 "unable to move or stop looking at something because you are so interested, surprised, or frightened(무엇에 흥미를 느끼거나, 놀랍거나, 겁먹었기 때문에 움직일 수 없거나 어떤 것을 바라보기를 멈출 수 없는)"라고 정의했다.

"Rabbits transfixed in the glare of car headlights are common victims on the roads(차 헤드라이트의 환한 불빛에 얼어붙은 토끼들은 길가의 흔한 피해자들이다)."

"He sat transfixed all through the film(그는 영화 내내 얼어붙은 채 앉아 있었다)."
