케임브릿지 사전은 'pundit'을 "a person who knows a lot about a particular subject and is therefore often asked to give an opinion about it(특정한 주제에 관해 많이 알고, 따라서 그에 관해 의견을 말해 달라고 자주 부탁받는 사람)"이라고 정의했다.

"a political/foreign-policy/sports pundit(정치/외교 정책/스포츠 전문가)"

콜린스 사전은 'pundit'을 이렇게 설명했다. "A pundit is a person who knows a lot about a subject and is often asked to give information or opinions about it to the public(pundit은 어떤 주제에 관해 많이 알고 자주 대중에게 그것에 관해 정보나 의견을 전달해 달라고 부탁받는 사람이다)."
