케임브릿지 사전은 'mill around'를 이렇게 정의했다. "If a group of people mill around, they move around with no particular purpose or in no particular direction, sometimes while waiting for someone(한 무리의 사람들이 mill around 한다면, 특정한 목적이 없이, 또는 특정한 목적지 없이, 때로 누구를 기다리면서 돌아다니는 것이다)."

"In the square, people were milling around in the sunshine(광장에서 사람들이 햇빛을 받으며 서성거리고 있었다)."

콜린스 사전은 'mill around'를 이렇게 설명했다. "When a crowd of people mill around or mill about, they move around a place or area without any clear purpose(사람들이 mill around 또는 mill about 한다면, 특정한 목적 없이 어떤 장소나 지역을 돌아다니는 것이다)."
