케임브릿지 사전은 'discredit'을 "to cause people to stop respecting someone or believing in an idea or person(사람들로 하여금 어떤 사람을 존경하지 않거나 어떤 아이디어나 사람을 믿지 않게 하다)"이라고 정의했다.
