케임브릿지 사전은 'sheaf'를 "a number of things, especially pieces of paper or plant stems, that are held or tied together(다수의 어떤 것, 특히 종이나 식물의 줄기가, 같이 뭉치거나 묶인 것)"라고 정의했다.

"A lawyer walked in carrying a whole sheaf of papers(한 변호사가 종이 한 묶음을 들고 걸어 들어왔다)."

"The corn was cut and tied in sheaves(옥수수를 베어서 묶어 두었다)."
