케임브릿지 사전은 'surfeit'을 "an amount that is too large, or is more than is needed(너무 많거나, 필요한 것보다 많은 양)"라고 정의했다.

"The country has a surfeit of cheap labour(그 나라는 값싼 노동력이 과하게 많다)."

콜린스 사전은 'surfeit'를 이렇게 설명했다. "A surfeit of something is an amount which is too large(어떤 것의 surfeit은 너무 큰 양이다)." 격식을 차린(formal) 표현이다.
