케임브릿지 사전은 'have it out with someone'을 "to talk to someone about something they have done that makes you angry, in order to try to solve the problem(문제를 해결하기 위해, 당신을 화나게 만드는 어떤 사람의 행동에 대해 그와 이야기하다)"이라고 정의했다.

"She'd been late for work every morning and I thought I'd better have it out with her(그녀는 매일 아침 일터에 지각했고, 나는 그녀와 터놓고 이에 대해 이야기하는 게 좋겠다고 생각했다)."

콜린스 사전은 'have it out'을 이렇게 설명했다.
