케임브릿지 사전은 'titivate'를 "to improve the small details of someone's appearance by arranging their hair, putting on make-up, etc.(머리를 매만지거나, 화장을 하는 등, 외양의 작은 세부 사항을 더 낫게 하다)"라고 정의했다.

콜린스 사전은 'titivate'를 "to smarten up (oneself or another), as by making up, doing the hair, etc(화장을 하거나, 머리를 매만지는 등, (자기 자신이나 타인을) 말쑥하게 단장하다)"라고 설명했다.

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'titivate'를 "to improve the appearance of somebody/something by making small changes(작은 변화를 주어서 사람/사물의 외양을 더 낫게 하다)"라고 풀이했다.
