케임브릿지 사전은 'quisling'을 "a person who helps an enemy that has taken control of his or her country(자신의 조국을 지배한 적을 돕는 사람)"라고 정의했다.

콜린스 사전은 'quisling'을 이렇게 설명했다. "A quisling is someone who helps an enemy army that has taken control of their country(quisling은 자신의 조국을 지배한 적군을 돕는 사람이다)."

"One forgets the power that comes with these quisling positions(사람들은 그런 부역자들의 지위에는 권력이 따라온다는 사실을 잊곤 한다)." 

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'quisling'을 "a person who helps an enemy that has taken control of his or her country(자신의 조국을 지배한 적을 돕는 사람)"라고 풀이했다.
