[영어 공부] press/push someone's buttons(누군가를 짜증 나게 하다)

케임브릿지 사전은 'press/push someone's buttons'를 "to cause a strong reaction or emotion in someone(누군가에게 강한 반응 또는 감정을 이끌어내다)"이라고 정의했다.

"My brother knows exactly how to push my buttons (= annoy me)(우리 형/동생은 나를 약올리는 (=짜증 나게 하는) 법을 안다."

"It's not money that presses his buttons (= excites him) so much as the dealing and negotiation that goes with it(그를 움직이는(=흥분시키는) 것은 돈이 아니라 그것에 따르기 마련인 거래와 협상이다)."

맥밀란 사전은 'push/press someone's buttons'를 "to deliberately say something in order to make someone angry or upset(누군가를 짜증 나거나 속상하게 만들기 위해 의도적으로 어떤 말을 하다)"이라고 설명했다.

"I try not to get mad, but he knows exactly how to push all my buttons(나는 화를 내지 않으려 하지만, 그는 내 속을 뒤집어 놓는 법을 아주 잘 안다)."

메리암웹스터 사전은 'push one's buttons'를 "to do or say something just to make someone angry or upset(단지 누군가를 화나거나 속상하게 만들기 위해 어떤 것을 하거나 말하다)"

"Don't pay any attention to her. She's just trying to push your buttons(걔한테 관심 주지 마. 그냥 네 성질 건드리려고 하는 거야)."

"Even though they're both adults now, Rita's brother still knows how to push her buttons(그들은 둘 다 성인이지만, 리타의 오빠/동생은 여전히 그녀를 짜증 나게 만드는 법을 안다)."
