'bandy around/about'은 어떤 것을 별로 깊은 생각 없이 그냥 캐주얼하게 막 언급하고 이야기하는 것이다. 

케임브릿지 사전은 'bandy sth around'를 "to mention something often, without considering it carefully(어떤 것을 조심스럽게 고려해 보지 않고 자주 언급하다)"라고 정의했다.

"Large figures were bandied around, but no money was ever paid(큰 액수가 쉽게 언급되지만, 실제로 돈이 지급된 적은 없다)."

콜린스 사전은 'bandy about'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If someone's name or something such as an idea is bandied about or is bandied around, that person or that thing is discussed by many people in a casual way(누군가의 이름이나 아이디어 같은 것이 bandied about 또는 bandied around 한다면, 그 사람 또는 그것이 많은 사람들에게 무심하게 논의되는 것이다)." 못마땅해하는(disapproval) 뉘앙스이다.

"Young players now hear various sums bandied around about how much players are getting(젊은 선수들은 선수들이 얼마나 많이 버는지에 대한 이런저런 액수들이 언급되는 걸 듣는다)."

맥밀란 사전은 'bandy'를 "to mention something a lot, usually without thinking much about what you are saying(대개 자신이 뭐라고 하는지 별로 생각해 보지 않은 채로 어떤 것을 자주 언급하다)"이라고 풀이했다.

"I don’t want people bandying my name about in public(나는 사람들이 대중적으로 내 이름을 들먹거리는 게 싫다)."
