케임브릿지 사전은 'do someone's head in'을 "to make someone feel confused or unhappy(누구를 혼란스럽거나 불행하다고 느끼게 만들다)"라고 정의했다.

"Getting up at four o'clock every morning was doing my head in(매일 아침 4시에 일어나려니까 아주 짜증이 난다)."

"I've been trying to make sense of all these figures and it's doing my head in(이 숫자들을 어떻게든 이해해 보려고 노력 중인데 머리가 어지럽다)."

콜린스 사전은 'do someone's head in'을 "to make someone very unhappy, upset, confused, or ill, and make them feel as if they cannot cope or are going mad(누구를 아주 불행하거나, 속상하거나, 혼란스럽거나, 아프게 만들고 이것에 대처할 수 없다거나 미칠 것 같다고 느끼게 만들다)"라고 설명했다. 대개 영국식이고, 구어체적인 표현이다.
