케임브릿지 사전은 'disgruntled'를 "unhappy, annoyed, and disappointed about something(어떤 일에 관해 불행하고, 짜증이 났으며, 실망한)"이라고 정의했다.

"A disgruntled former employee is being blamed for the explosion(불만족한 전(前) 직원이 폭발의 원인으로 지목되고 있다)."

"The players were disgruntled with the umpire(선수들은 심판에 불만을 가졌다)."

콜린스 사전은 'disgruntled'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you are disgruntled, you are cross and dissatisfied because things have not happened the way that you wanted them to happen(disgruntled 하다면, 당신이 원하는 대로 일이 일어나지 않아서 화가 나고 불만족스러운 것이다)."

"Disgruntled employees recently called for his resignation(불만족한 직원들이 그의 사임을 요구했다)." 

"Party members are disgruntled at the way the campaign is being handled(당의 일원들은 캠페인이 치러진 방식에 불만을 가지고 있다)."
