케임브릿지 사전은 'get the picture'를 "to understand(이해하다)"라고 정의했다.

"It's all right, don't say any more - I get the picture(괜찮아, 더 말할 필요 없어. 무슨 말인지 알겠다)."

콜린스 사전은 'get the picture'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you get the picture, you understand the situation, especially one which someone is describing to you(get the picture 한다면, 특히 다른 사람이 당신에게 묘사해 주고 있는 상황을 이해하는 것이다)."

"Luke never tells you the whole story, but you always get the picture(루크는 남에게 모든 이야기를 다 해 주지는 않지만, 언제나 상황을 이해할 수는 있다)." 

맥밀란 사전은 'get the picture'를 "to understand something, especially something that someone tells you indirectly(어떤 것, 특히 간접적으로 다른 이가 당신에게 이야기해 주는 것을 이해하다)"라고 풀이했다.

"‘He can be difficult, if you know what I mean.’ ‘OK, I get the picture.’('그는 까다롭게 굴 수도 있어요, 무슨 말인지 아시겠죠?' '좋아요, 무슨 말인지 알겠네요.')"
