[영어 공부] mentality(사고방식, 멘탈)

 

케임브릿지 사전은 'mentality'를 "a person's particular way of thinking about things(사물에 관해 생각하는 개인의 특정한 방식)"라고 정의했다.

"I can't understand the mentality of people who hurt animals(동물을 다치게 하는 사람들의 사고방식을 나는 도저히 이해할 수가 없다)."

"He hopes that closer links between Britain and the rest of Europe will change the British mentality towards foreigners(그는 역국과 유럽의 나머지 국가들의 근접한 연결성이 외국인에 관한 영국인들의 사고방식을 바꿔 주기를 바란다)."

콜린스 사전은 'mentality'를 이렇게 설명했다. "Your mentality is your attitudes and your way of thinking(mentality란 태도와 사고하는 방식이다)."

"...a criminal mentality(범죄자들의 사고방식)."

"Running a business requires a very different mentality from being a salaried employee(사업을 운영하는 것은 연봉을 받는 노동자와는 아주 다른 사고방식을 요구한다)."

맥밀란 사전은 'mentality'를 "a particular attitude or way of thinking, especially one that you do not approve of(특히 당신이 못마땅해하는 특정한 태도나 사고방식)"라고 풀이했다.
