케임브릿지 사전은 'sef-absorbed'를 "so involved with yourself that you do not think about anyone else; self-centered(자기 자신에게 몰두해서 다른 사람에 대해서는 생각하지 않는; 자기 중심적인)"라고 정의했다.

"Henry is so self-absorbed it’s a miracle anyone bothers with him at all(헨리는 너무나 자기에게만 관심이 있어서 다른 이들이 그에게 관심을 준다는 게 기적일 정도다)."

콜린스 사전은 'self-absorbed'를 이렇게 설명했다. "Someone who is self-absorbed thinks so much about things concerning themselves that they do not notice other people or the things around them(self-absorbed한 사람은 자신과 관련된 일만 너무 생각해서 다른 사람들이나 자기 주위의 사물들을 인지하지 못하는 사람이다)."

맥밀란 사전은 'self-absorbed'를 "too concerned about yourself and not interested in other people(자기 자신에만 신경을 쓰고 다른 사람들에게는 관심이 없는)"이라고 풀이했다.
