케임브릿지 사전은 "embellish'를 "to make something more beautiful by adding something to it(어떤 것에 무엇을 더해서 더욱 아름답게 만들다)"이라고 정의했다.

"The ceiling was embellished with flowers and leaves(그 천장은 꽃과 이파리들로 꾸며졌다)."

콜린스 사전은 'embellish'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If something is embellished with decorative features or patterns, it has those features or patterns on it and they make it look more attractive(어떤 것이 장식적인 특징 또는 패턴들로 embellish 되었다면, 그런 특징 또는 패턴들을 가지고 있고 그것들이 이것을 더욱 매력적으로 만드는 것이다)."
