케임브릿지 사전은 'take something with a grain of salt'를 "to not completely believe something that you are told, because you think it is unlikely to be true(어떤 것이 진실일 가능성이 없다고 생각하기 때문에 당신이 들은 어떤 이야기를 완전히 믿지 않다)"라고 정의했다.
