케임브릿지 사전은 'snap'을 "to suddenly become unable to control a strong feeling, especially anger(갑자기 강렬한 감정, 특히 화를 통제하지 못하게 되다)"라고 정의했다.

"When she asked me to postpone my trip to help her move to her new house, I just snapped (= got angry)(그녀가 내게 자기가 새집으로 이사 가는 걸 도와주기 위해 여행을 연기해 달라는 말을 들었을 때, 나는 한순간에 폭발했다)."

콜린스 사전은 'snap'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If someone snaps, or if something snaps inside them, they suddenly stop being calm and become very angry because the situation has become too tense or too difficult for them(어떤 사람이 snap 하거나 그들 안에서 어떤 것이 snap 한다면, 상황이 그들에게 너무 긴박해지거나 어려워졌기 때문에 차분해지는 것을 멈추고 아주 화를 내는 것이다)."
