케임브릿지 사전은 'mischievous'를 "behaving in a way, or describing behaviour, that is slightly bad but is not intended to cause serious harm or damage(약간 나쁘지만, 심각한 피해나 손상을 초래하려는 의도는 없는 방식으로 행동하거나, 그런 행동을 묘사하는)"라고 정의했다.

"She has a mischievous sense of humour(그녀는 짓궃은 유머 감각의 소유자이다)."

"a book about the mischievous antics of his ten-year-old daughter(그의 10살짜리 딸의 짓궃은 익살에 대한 책)"

콜린스 사전은 'mischievous'를 이렇게 설명했다. "A mischievous person likes to have fun by playing harmless tricks on people or doing things they are not supposed to do(mischievous한 사람은 타인에게 무해한 장난을 치거나 해서는 안 되는 일을 해서 재미있게 놀기를 좋아하는 사람이다)."

맥밀란 사전은 'mischievous'를 이렇게 풀이했다. "a mischievous person, especially a child, enjoys having fun by causing trouble(mischievous한 사람, 특히 아이는, 장난을 치면서 재미있게 놀기를 즐기는 사람이다)".
