케임브릿지 사전은 'crack'을 이렇게 정의했다. "If someone cracks, that person begins to feel weak and agrees that they have been defeated(어떤 사람이 crack 한다면, 그 사람은 약하다고 느끼고 그들이 패배했다고 인정하기 시작하는 것이다)"

"He cracked during questioning and told us where to find the stolen goods(그는 심문 중 무너져서 장물을 어디서 찾을 수 있는지를 우리에게 말했다)."

콜린스 사전은 'crack'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If someone cracks, they lose control of their emotions or actions because they are under a lot of pressure(어떤 사람이 crack 한다면, 큰 압박을 받기 때문에 감정이나 행동의 통제력을 잃는 것이다)." 인포멀(informal)한 표현이다.

맥밀란 사전은 'crack'을 "to lose control of yourself and say or do things that you would not normally say or do, for example, because you are tired or you have been threatened(예를 들어, 피곤하거나 협박을 받았기 때문에 스스로에 대한 통제력을 잃고 평소라면 하지 않을 말이나 행동을 하다)"라고 풀이했다.
