케임브릿지 사전은 'give sb a piece of your mind'를 "to speak angrily to someone about something they have done wrong(어떤 사람에게 그들이 잘못한 것에 대해 화를 내며 말하다)"이라고 정의했다.

"I'm going to give that mechanic a piece of my mind if the car's not fixed this time(이번에 내 차가 수리되지 않았으면 그 수리공에게 참지 않고 다 말할 거야)."

콜린스 사전은 'give someone a piece of your mind'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you give someone a piece of your mind, you tell them very clearly that you think they have behaved badly(give somone a piece of your mind 한다면, 당신은 그들이 잘못 행동했다고 생각한다는 점을 아주 명확하게 말하는 것이다)." 인포멀(informal)한 표현이다.

"How very thoughtless. I'll give him a piece of my mind(어쩜 그렇게 생각이 없을 수가. 내가 그에게 한마디 하겠어)." 

맥밀란 사전은 'give someone a piece of your mind'를 "to speak very angrily to someone because they have done something wrong(어떤 사람에게 어떤 것을 잘못했다고 아주 화를 내며 말하다)"이라고 풀이했다.

"I’m going to give that girl a piece of my mind when I see her(그 여자애를 보면 따끔하게 한마디 해야지)."
