케임브릿지 사전은 'hotheaded'를 "doing things or reacting to things quickly and without thinking carefully first(어떤 일을 재빨리 하거나 반응하며 조심스럽게 먼저 생각하지 않는)"

"She can be hotheaded and rash(그녀는 성급하고 경솔할 수 있다)."

"He is a competent but hotheaded manager(그는 유능하지만 성급한 매니저이다)."

콜린스 사전은 'hot-headed'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you describe someone as hot-headed, you are criticizing them for acting too quickly, without thinking of the consequences(어떤 사람을 hot-headed라고 묘사한다면, 그들이 결과를 생각하지 않고 너무 빠르게 행동한다는 점을 비판하는 것이다)." 못마땅해하는(disapproval) 뉘앙스이다.

맥밀란 사전은 'hot-headed'를 "becoming angry or excited easily and tending to do things without thinking about the result(쉽게 화를 내거나 흥분하며 결과에 대해 생각하지 않고 무엇을 하는 경향이 있는)"라고 풀이했다.
