케임브릿지 사전은 'exhilarated'를 "very excited and happy(아주 신이 나고 행복한)"라고 정의했다.

"At the end of the race I was exhilarated(경주의 끝에 나는 아주 들떴다)."

콜린스 사전은 'exhilarated'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you are exhilarated by something, it makes you feel very happy and excited(어떤 것에 exhilarated 되었다면, 그것이 당신을 아주 행복하고 신나게 만드는 것이다)." 포멀(formal)한 표현이다.

"He felt strangely exhilarated by the brisk, blue morning(그는 경쾌하고 푸른 아침에 묘하게 기분이 들떴다)." 

"By the week's end I was exhilarated and confused(그 주가 끝날 즈음 나는 기분이 들뜬 동시에 혼란스러웠다)." 

맥밀란 사전은 'exhilarated'를 "extremely happy, excited, and full of energy(극히 행복하고, 신이 나며, 에너지가 가득한)"라고 풀이했다.

"I felt too exhilarated to sleep(나는 잠들기에는 너무 들뜬 기분이었다)."
