케임브릿지 사전은 'slew'를 "a large amount or number(많은 양 또는 수)"라고 정의했다.

"Savino has been charged with three murders as well as a whole slew of other crimes(사비노는 수많은 다른 범죄는 물론 세 건의 살인으로 기소되었다)."

콜린스 사전은 'slew'를 이렇게 설명했다. "A slew of things is a large number of them(어떤 것의 slew는 그것이 많이 있는 것이다)."

"There have been a whole slew of shooting incidents(많은 총격 사건들이 있었다)."

"They dealt with a slew of other issues(그들은 수많은 이슈를 다루었다)."
