[영어 공부] good-for-nothing(아무 짝에도 쓸모없는 사람)

 

케임브릿지 사전은 'good-for-nothing'을 "a person who is lazy and not helpful or useful(게으르고 도움이 되지 않거나 쓸모없는 사람)"이라고 정의했다.

"She told him he was a lazy good-for-nothing and should get a job(그녀는 그가 아무 짝에도 쓸모없는 사람이고 일자리를 구해야 한다고 말했다)."

콜린스 사전은 'good-for-nothing'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If you describe someone as good-for-nothing, you think that they are lazy or irresponsible(어떤 사람을 good-for-nothing이라고 묘사한다면, 그들이 게으르거나 책임감이 없다고 당신이 생각한다는 뜻이다)."

"...a good-for-nothing fourteen-year-old son who barely knows how to read and count(...읽기와 셈을 거의 못하는 14살짜리 쓸모없는 아들)." 

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'good-for-nothing'을 "​lazy and without skills(게으르고 기술이 없는)"라고 풀이했다.
