케임브릿지 사전은 'dislodge'를 "to remove something or someone, especially by force, from a fixed position(어떤 사물이나 사람을, 특히 힘을 주어서, 고정된 자리에서 제거하다)"이라고 정의했다.

"The earthquake dislodged stones from the walls and the roof(지진으로 인해 벽과 지붕에서 돌들이 빠져나왔다)."

"The Red Sox need two wins to dislodge the Yankees from first place(레드 삭스 팀은 양키스 팀을 1위에서 몰아내려면 2승이 필요하다)."
