케임브릿지 사전은 'sashay'를 "to walk confidently while moving your hips from side to side in a way that attracts attention(엉덩이를 양쪽으로 흔들어, 사람들의 관심을 끌며 자신감 있게 걷다)"이라고 정의했다.

"She sashayed down the stairs and into the hall(그녀는 뽐내며 계단을 걸어내려가 홀로 갔다)."

콜린스 사전은 'sashay'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If someone sashays, they walk in a graceful but rather noticeable way(어떤 사람이 sashay 한다면, 우아하지만 눈에 띄게 걷는 것이다)."
