케임브릿지 사전은 'infraction'을 "an occasion when someone breaks a rule or law(어떤 사람이 규칙이나 법을 어기는 경우)"라고 정의했다.

"Any attempt to influence the judges will be seen as an infraction of the rules(심사위원들에게 영향을 끼치려는 시도는 규칙 위반으로 간주될 것입니다)."

콜린스 사전은 'infraction'을 이렇게 설명했다. "An infraction of a rule or law is an instance of breaking it(규칙이나 법의 infraction은 그것을 어기는 사례이다)."
