케임브릿지 사전은 'secondment'를 "a period of time when an employee is sent to work somewhere else, to increase the number of workers , to replace other workers, or to exchange experience or skills(노동자 수를 증대하거나, 다른 노동자를 대체하거나, 경험이나 기술을 교환하기 위해, 한 고용인이 다른 곳에서 일하도록 보내진 기간)"라고 정의했다.

"His involvement with the project began when he was on (a) secondment from NASA to the European Space Agency(그가 프로젝트에 관여한 것은 그가 NASA에서 유럽 우주 기관으로 파견 나갔을 때 시작되었다)."

콜린스 사전은 'secondment'를 이렇게 설명했다. "Someone who is on secondment from their normal employer has been sent somewhere else temporarily in order to do special duties(평소 고용주로부터 secondment에 있는 사람은 특별한 임무를 하기 위해 다른 곳으로 일시적으로 보내진 것이다)."

"We have two full-time secretaries, one of whom is on secondment from the navy(우리는 전업 비서 두 명이 있는데, 그중 한 명은 해군에서 전출 나왔다)."

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'secondment'를 "​a short period of time when an employee is sent to another department, office, etc. in order to do a different job(한 고용인이 다른 일을 하기 위해 다른 부서, 사무실, 등 따위로 보내진 짧은 기간)"이라고 풀이했다.

"They met while she was on secondment from the Foreign Office(그들은 그녀가 외무부에서 파견 나가 있을 때 만났다)."
