케임브릿지 사전은 'gabble'을 "to speak quickly and not clearly so that it is difficult to understand(이해하기 어려울 정도로 재빠르고, 불명확하게 말하다)"라고 정의했다.

"She started gabbling away at me in Spanish and I didn't understand a word(그녀는 스페인어로 내게 빠르게 말하기 시작했고, 나는 한마디도 못 알아들었다)."

"Gina, as usual, was gabbling away on the phone(지나는 평소처럼 전화기에 대해 뭐라 지껄이고 있었다)."

콜린스 사전은 'gabble'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If you gabble, you say things so quickly that it is difficult for people to understand you(gabble 한다면, 사람들이 이해하기에 너무 빠르게 말하는 것이다)." 격식을 차리지 않은(informal) 표현이다.

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'gabble'을 "​to talk quickly so that people cannot hear you clearly or understand you(다른 사람들이 당신의 말을 명확하게 듣거나 이해할 수 없을 정도로 재빠르게 말하다)"라고 풀이했다.
