케임브릿지 사전은 'slush fund'를 "an amount of money that is kept for dishonest or illegal activities in politics or business(정치나 사업 분야에서, 부정직하거나 불법적인 활동을 위해 모아 둔 돈)"라고 정의했다.

"He used his party's slush fund to buy votes in the election(그는 당의 비자금을 선거에서 표를 사는 데 썼다)."

콜린스 사전은 'slush fund'를 이렇게 설명했다. "A slush fund is a sum of money collected to pay for an illegal activity, especially in politics or business(slush fund는 특히 정치나 사업 분야에서, 불법적인 활동을 위해 모아 둔 돈이다)."
