케임브릿지 사전은 'small fry'를 "somebody or something that is not considered to be important(중요하다고 여겨지지 않는 사람 또는 사물)"라고 정의했다.

"They may be key players in their own company, but they're small fry in the industry itself(그들은 각자 자기 회사들에서는 주요 인물일지도 모르지만, 업계에서 보면 별 볼 일 없는 사람에 불과하다)."
