케임브릿지 사전은 'shoo-in'을 "someone who is certain to win an election or a competition(선거나 대회에서 이길 것이 확실한 사람)"이라고 정의했다.

"He's a shoo-in for the White House(그는 백악관에 쉽게 입성할 사람이다)."

"Arsenal's a shoo-in to win the title this season(아스널의 우승 후보가 이번 시즌 타이틀을 따냈다)."

콜린스 사전은 'shoo-in'을 이렇게 설명했다. "A shoo-in is a person or thing that seems sure to succeed(shoo-in은 성공할 것이 확실해 보이는 사람 또는 사물이다)."

"Ms Brown is still no shoo-in for the November election(브라운 여사는 11월 선거에서 승리할 가능성이 여전히 없다)."
