[영어 공부] taut((사람·몸이) 팽팽한)
케임브릿지 사전은 'taut'를 "tight or completely stretched(팽팽하거나 완전히 늘려진)"라고 정의했다.
"a taut rope(팽팽한 밧줄)"
"He kept his eyes on the road ahead, his face taut with concentration(그는 앞에 펼쳐진 길에서 눈을 떼지 않았고, 그의 얼굴은 집중하느라 긴장된 모습이었다)."
콜린스 사전은 'taut'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If a person or their body is taut, they are very lean with firm muscles(어떤 사람 또는 몸이 taut 하다면, 단단한 근육을 가지고 아주 날씬하다는 뜻이다)."
"That summer she had shed the weight gained during pregnancy, her body was trim and taut(그 여름 동안 그녀는 임신 기간 동안 쪘던 살을 뺐고, 그녀의 몸은 늘씬하고 탄탄했다)."
맥밀란 사전은 'taut'를 이렇게 풀이했다. "a taut body is firm with strong muscles and little fat(taut 한 몸은 튼튼한 근육으로 단단하고 지방이 거의 없는 것이다)"
