'waddle'은 '(오리처럼) 뒤뚱뒤뚱 걷다'라는 뜻인데, 오리나 펭귄들이 걷는 모습을 상상하면 된다. 뒤뚱뒤뚱.

케임브릿지 사전은 'waddle'을 "(usually of a person or animal with short legs and a fat body) to walk with short steps, moving the body from one side to the other((대개 다리가 짧고 몸통이 뚱뚱한 사람 또는 동물이) 이쪽저쪽 몸을 움직이며 짧은 보폭으로 걷다)"라고 정의했다.
