[영어 공부] amenity(생활 편의 시설)

 

케임브릿지 사전은 'amenity'를 "something, such as a swimming pool or shopping centre, that is intended to make life more pleasant or comfortable for the people in a town, hotel, or other place(마을이나 호텔 또는 다른 장소에 있는 사람들의 삶을 더욱 쾌적하고 편하게 하도록 의도된, 수영장이나 쇼핑 센터 같은 것)"라고 정의했다.

"The council has some spare cash, which it proposes to spend on public amenities(의회는 현금이 좀 남아서, 그것을 공공 생화 편의 시설에 사용하자고 제안한다)."

콜린스 사전은 'amenity'를 이렇게 설명했다. "Amenities are things such as shopping centres or sports facilities that are provided for people's convenience, enjoyment, or comfort(amenities는 사람에게 편의, 즐거움, 또는 편안함을 제공하는, 쇼핑 센터나 스포츠 시설 같은 것이다)."

"The hotel amenities include health clubs, conference facilities, and banqueting rooms(그 호텔의 편의 시설은 헬스 클럽, 콘퍼런스 시설, 그리고 연회장을 포함한다)."  

맥밀란 사전은 'amenity'를 "something that makes it comfortable or enjoyable to live or work somewhere(어디에서 살거나 일하는 것을 편하거나 즐겁게 해 주는 것)"라고 풀이했다.

"Amenities include a gym, a pool, and a jacuzzi(생활 편의 시설은 짐, 수영장, 그리고 자쿠지를 포함한다)."

"parks, shops, and other local amenities(공원, 가게, 그리고 다른 지역 생활 편의 시설)"
