케임브릿지 사전은 'feckless'를 "weak in character and lacking determination(기개가 약하고 투지가 부족한)"이라고 정의했다.

"He was portrayed as a feckless drunk(그는 무기력한 술꾼으로 묘사되었다)."

콜린스 사전은 'feckless'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you describe someone as feckless, you mean that they lack determination or strength, and are unable to do anything properly(어떤 사람을 feckless라고 묘사한다면, 그들이 투지 또는 힘이 부족하고, 뭐든 제대로 하지 못한다는 뜻이다)." 포멀(formal)하고 못마땅해하는(disapproval) 뉘앙스이다.

"He regarded the young man as feckless and irresponsible(그는 그 젊은이를 무기력하고 무책임하다고 여겼다)."

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'feckless'를 "having a weak character; not behaving in a responsible way(기개가 약한; 책임있게 행동하지 않는)"라고 풀이했다.

"They were too lazy, feckless and arrogant to take the work seriously(그들은 자신이 하는 일을 진지하게 받아들이기에는 너무 게으르고, 오만하며, 무책임했다)."
